Dr. Elissa Strome, Executive Director of SOSCIP (the Southern Ontario Smart Computing Innovation Platform) , will be on campus and will be discussing opportunities for Queen’s faculty to become involved in SOSCIP projects. She will be presenting an overview of SOSCIP and outlining the process for applying for SOSCIP support.
SOSCIP is an innovative research consortium, bringing together academic researchers and private sector partners, including SMEs and lead industrial partner IBM Canada Ltd. to develop collaborative research projects using some of Canada’s most advanced computing platforms dedicated to R&D. SOSCIP’s mandate is to fuel innovation leadership in Canada within the areas of health, water, energy, cities, mining, advanced manufacturing, digital media and cybersecurity. Academic researchers interested in pursuing a SOSCIP project are given project development support, including industry partner matchmaking, access to funding for post-docs and grad students and access to and technical support for our computing platforms.
